2.5" Standard Cat High Flow Modification

Mark Fish Motorsport modifies the standard 200cpsi cat to allow for greater flow. The standard cat is very restrictive at the cat to centre section join.

First the centre section join was cut off –

Then the cat join was cut off to open the cat up to a 2.5" exit -

The original join is very restrictive at about 1" diamiter -

My first major observation when driving home was how much smoother the car felt thoughout the rev range. I would never go back to a decat.

Fully Stripped Interior

I have taken nearly all the plastic interior out. From the seats back it is just bare metal. All carpet has been removed, roof lining and all tar patches.

The Tar patches alone save around 10KG's of weight. All the tar patches from the roof, boot, front and rear foot wells was removed.

The interior has since been painted Anthracite and the Roll Cage powder coated white...

Clio V6/Trophy Spoiler Upgrade

I swapped my cup spoiler for a V6/Trophy Spoiler.

Offical Renaultsport figures showed the increase in downforce that this spoiler gives over the standard spoilers and the cup one. Same goes for the Cup Pack front bumper splitter, however I can no longer find these details on the Renaultsport site.

Brake Cooling Ducts

Although not 100% necessary with the 4 pot kit I decided to direct some cold air over the brakes to help reduce brake fade should they get that hot on track.

Made to the same size as the original Clio 182 Race car plates Mark Fish manufactured me some deflector plates.

Photobucket

The plates needed to be cut to avoide the calipers and tyres on full lock.

Photobucket

I wanted to keep the original fog light surround so used some 114mm ducting squeezed in behind to channel the air to the deflector plates.

AP Racing 4 Pot Front Brake Upgrade

Clio Motorsport 4 pot brake upgrade designed for us by BG Developments using AP Racing components.

The kit was designed to fit behind the 15" Speedline Corse 2118 alloy wheel or larger wheels and has a huge range of pads to suit all applications.

I currently use the Ferodo DS2500 for road and DS1.11 for trackdays. The stopping power with either is immense.

Rear Brakes with Uprated Pads

While fitting the camber shims I fitted new rear discs and pads. I chose some Ferodo DS2500 rear pads. Although not necessary as the rear brakes do very little I hoped that they would help balance the braking force with the 4 pot’s up front.

Rear Camber Shims

As used on the Clio 182 race cars, the shims were available in 1 Degree, 30 minuets (1/2 a Degree), 20 minuets and 10 minuets. I managed to get hold of these from a forum member who owned a Clio race car and had these as spares.

After fitting the Clio had a full geometry check by Mark Fish, the shims are incredibly accurate and do exactly what they say on the tin. I have used 2 shims per side to increase the camber and set the toe angle.

RS Tuner by Fastchip

I decided that I wanted to remap the car, after much research I decided to order the RS Tuner self mapping kit from Fastchip

I am only using the generic remaps and have not yet used the custom mapping service.

The maps give great results with the increased rev limit and great driveability.
